Srinagar: Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on Friday said that the recent Jamia Masjid incident was an attempt to link ‘Kashmir’s struggle with the global terror groups.’

Masked youth had jumped on the Jamia Masjid’s pulpit and unfurled the flag of ISIS recently.

Syed Ali Geelani while addressing the gathering via phone said that there are attempts to link the Kashmir’s freedom movement with Global terror organisations.

“The incident at the Jamia Masjid was an attempt to connect our struggle with the global terror networks,” Geelani said.

JRL had asked people in general and the areas in vicinity of the grand mosque in Shehr e Khas to offer congregational prayers only at Jamia.

“We are open to listen to grievances of youth who are laying down their lives for the cause of Right to Self-determination,” he said.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq launched cleansing drive on Wednesday and had appealed for joint congregational prayers at Jamia Masjid today.

Earlier on Thursday, JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested in the afternoon but was later released in the evening.
