Kulgam: Property worth lakhs of rupees was damaged as at-least three shops were gutted in Kulgam district of south Kashmir on Sunday evening.
Eyewitness said that the fire erupted at around 8 p.m. in the evening in a shop and quickly spread to adjoining ones near a shrine in the district.
They said locals came out of their houses and made a valiant attempt to douse off the flames before the fire tenders reached the spot. However when the fire was brought under control, the shopkeepers had suffered huge losses, put in lakhs of rupees.
There were no casualties in the incident even as cause of the fire is being investigated, an official said.
