Debate, Photography competitions held on Day-4 of Youth Fest Sonzal-2018 at KU

Srinagar, Dec 15: Displaying their talents in different creative and competitive spheres in one of the biggest Youth festivals of Kashmir, Sonzal 2018, over 80 debaters and photographers from various degree colleges and departments of Kashmir University (KU) competed in debating and photography on 4th day of the festival.

Vocalizing their oratory skills, students debated on ‘Social Media can have positive influence on education’. The participants spoke on how social media has impacted the lives of students and the extent to which the changes brought about by the media should be acceptable to them.

While the photography students showcased their skills and creativity, above 40 students were asked to explore the city and click photographs on three themes given on spot which included, ‘Expressions’, ‘The Beauty of Winter’ and ‘Typical Kashmiri Market.’

The students presented six raw photographs comprising 2 in each given themes.

The debating students were judged by a jury comprising of Mr. Nasir Mirza, Ajaz-Ul-Haq and Dr Rizwan Alam while the photographs were evaluated by Masood Hussain, Shafqat Habib and Shahid Ali Khan.

Organized by Division of Youth Affairs, Department of Students Welfare (DSW), KU, Sonzal 2018 is an eight day annual youth festival which shall host further competitions in elocution, collage making, poster making, clay modeling, musical events, and other categories during the remaining days of the fest.

Poster and Clay modeling competition are scheduled for the fifth day of the fest at Gandhi Bhawan while over the last four days students participated in competitions like cartooning,  mehandi designing, quiz and rangoli.
