Peerzada Waseem
Srinagar: Two Lashker-e-Toiba militants were killed in an overnight gunfight with government forces in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The gunfight in Brath Kalan of Sopore erupted last night when joint team of forces laid siege of the village following inputs about the presence of militants. The government forces installed lights and snapped internet.
After establishing the contact with militants, the government forces strengthened the cordon around the suspected house. The operation was halted throughout the night due to darkness and was resumed at the crack of the dawn on Thursday. Two local militants Owais Ahmad Bhat of Sadipora and Tahir Dar of Gund Brath Sopore, were killed. The duo had recently joined the Lashker-e-Toiba militant outfit, officials said.
