Srinagar: A day after the Congress won elections in three states including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, the state congress unit on Wednesday flouted the orders imposed by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Syed Abid Rashid Shah by bursting fire crackers in the premises of their Srinagar headquarters.

According to INS correspondent, after felicitation function for newly elected councilors and addressing media persons, the state congress unit headed by its president G A Mi and other top leaders assembled in the lawns of their headquarters and burst fire crackers, thus putting the orders of DC Srinagar at bay.

Earlier, DC Srinagar on October 10 this year had ordered blanket ban on the sale and bursting of firecrackers within the territorial jurisdiction of district Srinagar. The order was issued to ensure the safety of life and property of the general public.

Senior Superintendent of Police was also directed to implement the order in letter and spirit.

However, the state congress didn’t follow the orders and celebrated their win in the premises of their headquarters and burst fire crackers.

The ban on sale and bursting of fire crackers seems implemented on papers as in a recent past, the people in Srinagar also burst firecrackers on the eve of Diwali and there was no reacting from the district administration.
