Thousands attend slain Sopore militant’s funeral

Sopore: Massive throng erupted at the funeral of slain militant from Sopore area of Baramulla district, who was killed along Naveed Jatt in Budgam yesterday.

Locals said that thousands attended Mehraj Udin khan alias at Iqbal Market Sopore.

Mehraj, according to police was an Over Ground Worker for militants but was nabbed by police.

He gave police a slip and escaped for Police Station and formally joined militant ranks.

His family identified him on Thursday and his body was handed over for last rites.

Eye witnesses said that people from various villages have converged at this ancestral home and massive pro freedom, pro Pakistan sloganeering is going on in the area.

Meanwhile complete shutdown is being observed in Sopore over Mehraj’s killing.
