Srinagar: PDP chief and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Muti, who got a new lease of political life after dramatic dissolution of state assembly last week, called for making borders between India and Pakistan “irreverent” by facilitating trade and encouraging people to people contact.
National Conference which until recently was bête noire of PDP, called for opening historic routes Kartarpur Corridor Opening.
“Kartarpur can be a new beginning of reconciliation between the two neighbours. We cannot change our borders but let us make them irrelevant by facilitating trade & encouraging people to people contact. This will usher in peace & progress for both India & Pakistan,” Mehbooba tweeted.
“It is quite amusing how some tv channels are trying to distort a gesture like Kartarpur into some kind of conspiracy to create Khalistan . One fails to understand why allowing people pilgrimage to Guru Nanak Dev ji’s birth place would assume such undertones,” she added.
Congratulations India, Pakistan and people of Punjab for the Kartarpur Corridor opening, National Conference leader Tanvir Sadiq implored two neighbors to listen to the people of Jammu and Kashmir historical routes.
“Now please listen to the people of Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh & have Kargil-Skardu, Turtuk-Khapulu,Titwal -Chilhan,Jammu-Sialkot, Chhamb-Jourian-Mirpur,Gurez-Astoor-Gilgit & Jhanger-Mirpur opened,” Tanvir tweeted.
