Tral: A fierce gunfight between militants and government forces was underway in Tral area of south Kashmir on Tuesday.

Officials said a joint team of army’s 42RR, 180 battalion of paramilitary CRPF and police laid siege of Reshipora area of the Tral around midnight after “credible inputs about the presence o militants” in the village.

As the joint team moved towards the suspected area, the officials said that the hiding militants fired upon government forces, triggering off an encounter. The internet services were likely to be snapped soon in the police district Awantipora as officials are learnt to have written a communication to the telecom authorities in the regard.
