Srinagar:  Among the six militants killed in the predawn gunbattle between militants and government forces in Bijbehara Anantnag in south kashmir is Azad Malik aka Dada, a wanted Hizbul Mujahideen militant who police claim was among the persons involved in the killing of journalist Shujat Bukhari.

Sources confirmed to INS that Azad’s body has been handed over to his family and they have reached his home at Arwani in Bijbehara.

Journlist Bukhari was showered with bullets by unidentified gunmen at press enclave in the busy city center while leaving his office .

Two of his body guards too died in that attack.

Police identified two among the six militants killed in a gunfight as Azad Ahmad Malik Alias Azad Dada of Arwani and Bashir Ahmad Mir of Khanbal.

The officer said that Azad Dada was close aide of Naveed Jatt.

Earlier the gunfight broke out after a joint team of army, CRPFand SOG laid a cordon at Sekipora area of Bhejbera.
