Anantnag Gunfight: Multiple funeral prayers held for killed militants

Srinagar: Multiple rounds of funeral prayers were held for slain Azad Malik and Basit Mir at their native places, in south Kashmir’Anantnag district on Friday.

Malik and Mir were among the six militants killed in an early morning gunfight with government forces in Setkpora of anantnag.

According to eyewitnesses six rounds of funeral prayers were held for Azad Malik from Aarwani bejbehara and for Basit Mir  of pushwara Anantnag, 5 rounds of funeral prayers were held.

Locals said that militants showed up at the funeral prayers of Azad and fired in air as well.

Azad, Mir and four other militants were killed in a fierce gunfight on friday morning, after which authorities suspended internet services and train services as well in the district.

Protests erupted in many parts of Anantnag in which three persons were injured including two with pellet gun and one was hit with a bullet.

“One among the three received bullet on right arm and referred from bejbehara hospital to Srinagar hospital,” hospital sources said.
