Budgam: 25.83 percent of voting was registered in Khansahib block of district Budgam till 1 pm in the first phase of nine-phased panchayat elections on Saturday.

Sources said that 3326 votes were cast in the first five hours of voting.

In Khansahib, the contests is mostly between independent candidates.

Polling for the first phase of Panchayat elections began in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday even as the Kashmir valley is observing a complete shutdown on the call of Joint Resistance Leadership.

At least 47 panchayat blocks will go to the polls in the first phase on Saturday in a nine-phased election process.
