Police nabs two Hizbul Mujahideen militants in Pulwama

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday claimed to have apprehended two militants affiliated with Hizb Ul Mujahideen at Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Officials said that they had received inputs that there is movement of militants in Dugripora Panzgam area

“Working on which a joint naka was established at Panzgam railway underpass by 55 RR, Awantipora Police and 185 CRPF late Tuesday evening,” he said.

“At around 9.30 pm two persons were spotted going towards Panzgam who were asked to stop but they ran towards village Dugripora. The duo was chased and apprehended.”

The officer said that upon their search one UBGL thrower, two hand grenades and some ammunition of AK series was recovered.

The detained have been identified as Jan Mohammad Sheikh son of Abdul Aziz resident of Kaweni Dugripora and Nasir ul Islam son of Shabir Ahmed Shah, a resident of Panzgam.

The duo are affiliated with HM outfit and case under relevant sections of Arms Act has been registered against them in Police Station Awantipora.
