Srinagar: Police on Sunday claimed to have killed a militant in Handwara area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
A police spokesman said a group of militants while moving through Handwara was intercepted by a naka party near Chattipora Handwara which led to a brief exchange of gunfire.
“Consequently one militant got killed in the exchange of fire,” the spokesman said, adding, “The identity of the killed militant is being ascertained.” The area has been cordoned off and searches are going on in the area, the spokesman .
