Thousands attend funeral of LeT militant at Khanpora Baramulla

Baramulla: Thousands of people of Friday attended funeral of a Lashker-e-Taiba (LeT) militant who was killed along with his associate in a gunfight with government forces at Athoora village of Kreeri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Eyewitnesses said thousands of people assembled in Khanpora, the native village of the slain militant, Aqeel Rashid Sofi son of Bashir Ahmad Sofi, and attended the funeral of the 17-year-old.
Aqeel had joined the militant ranks on September 5 this year and was a close associate of LeT commander Suhaib Akhoon who happens to his neighbour. Shouting pro-freedom and anti-India slogans, thousands of people later took Aqeel’s body to graveyard for burial. (file picture for illustration)
