Srinagar: A gunfight broke out between militants and the government forces in Kreeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.

Reports said that Army’s 29 RR, SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation at Athoora area of Kreeri.

As the forces intensified the searches, the militants opened fire on them triggering off a gunfight, they said.

SSP Baramulla Imtiyaz Hussain confirmed the gunfight in the area and said that more details to follow.
