Pulwama : Farmers in Pulwama district of South Kashmir, have expressed resentment over the shortage of fertilizers in the market claiming that they are suffering badly due to its absence.
A delegation of farmers in Tral area of Pulwama district said they are facing acute shortage of fertilizers in the district, due to which their agricultural needs are not being fulfilled properly.
They said that sudden shortage of fertilizers in the month of October, which is an essential farming period, has taken a heavy toll on the farmers in most of the areas in this district.
“We are worried as Fertilisers are not available here. Its absence is taking toll to farmers. Authorities are in deep slumber,” said a farmer.
The farmers requested concerned authorities to look into the matter as early as possible.
Enforcement Fertilizer officer, South Kashmir, Farooq Ahmad, told INS that, “the problem has hit valley wide market after rail authorities stopped fetching fertilisers from Jammu and asked fertiliser owners to get the same directly proving very expensive for them.”
He further said that government is sorting out the issue with rail head and “hopefully problem would be resolved in a week.”
