Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbagh Singh on Monday said that the state police wants to avoid Kulgam like incidents that claimed lives of seven civilians due to an explosion at gunfight site in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday.
Talking to media persons on the sidelines of wreath laying ceremony here, DGP said that police has been asking people to avoid visiting the gunfight sites till the area is sanitized but people didn’t pay heed to their requests, thus leading to six civilian deaths in Kulgam.
“We express solidairty witg the bereaved families and also urge people to stay away from the encounter sites till the place is sanitized properly,” he said, adding that they want to avoid such deaths in future.
“We don’t want any collateral damage during the encounter, thus appeal the youth again to stay away from gunfight sites,” he said.
