Srinagar: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), of Jammu and Kashmir Shaleen Kabra Monday announced that the 9-phased Panchayat polls in the state will commence from November 17.

Kabra was addressing a presser here, and said that the polls will be held in 9 phases with a gap of two to three days.
“The polls will commence from November 17 and the candidates will be able to file their nominations from September 23,” Kabra said.

According to Kabra ballot papers, instead of EVM’s will decide the fate of 4483 Sarpanchs and 35028 Panches.

“The duration of the voting has bee decided to be from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm,” the CEO said.

He further said that the model code of conduct which was imposed on September 16 will continue to remain into force
