Srinagar: Scores of students of Islamic University of Science and Technology Awantipora on Tuesday protested in the varsity campus against the killing of slain scholar turned militant Mannan Wani and his accomplice.

Witnesses said that the students of various departments of the varsity assembled in the varsity campus and later amid massive pro freedom and anti India slogans took out a protest march.

The students, they said, denounced the killing of Mannan and sought an end to “bloodshed” in the valley.

Mannan along with his accomplice was killed in a gunfight with government forces Thursday last. The slain was a scholar of geology at Aligarh Muslim University before picking up arms.
