7 BJP candidates win uncontested in Sopore, 73.3% voters seal fate of 31 candidates in Uri

Baramulla: While there was no voting in 8 wards in Sopore as seven BJP candidates and an independent sailed through unopposed, 73.3 voters turned up in Uri town and sealed the fate of 31 candidates contesting from 13 wards.
Among the 31 candidates, 13 belonged to Congress, 14 are independents while 5 candidates contest on BJP ticket.
Uri town witnessed 75.3% turnout, highest so far in any MC. A total of 2676 voters (1328 Males and 1348) out of 3552 voters cast their votes.
Officials said that seven Bharatiya Janata Party candidates won unopposed in Sopore along with an independent candidate.
