Thousands attend funeral of Manan Wani

Srinagar: Thousands of people on Thursday evening turned up to attend the funeral prayers of PhD scholar turned militant Manan Bashir Wani who was among two militants killed in encounter with government forces in home district of Kupwara in north Kashmir.
Reports said thousands of people shouting pro-freedoom slogans participated in the funeral prayers of Manan before he was laid to rest.
The encounter broke out between militants and government forces at Shatgund, Qalamabad in Handwara early on Thursday morning.
The authorities closed all the educational institutions in the frontier district and snapped internet services in parts of Handwara and Kupwara soon.
