In a statement issued to press here DPN said that the decision was taken during a meeting of Executive Body of the party. The meeting discussed present scenario of the state in view of elections.
“DPN  believes in the grass root democracy and has firm commitment in the empowerment of people,” statement reads.
“The participating in the elections would be welcome but the deferment of case in the SC on the pretext of the local elections on the request of the Government has raised fingers on the intention of the Government of India viz Art 35A, (sic),” it said.
It further added that the ‘people look at these elections with suspicion and are not showing any interest’.

“The main local parties NC, PDP CPI(M), PDF and other parties have decided not to participate in these elections. In view of this our party decides to be with the people and not to participate in the elections,” statement said.

National Conference, Peoples democratic party and CPI (M) have already announced that they will boycott the polls, while Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday announced that they will be taking part in the elections to fight ‘communal forces’.
