Srinagar: Governor on Saturday directs that the selection of Class-IV posts borne on establishment of all the Government Departments shall be made solely on the basis of a written examination to be conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board with the condition that the selection against State, Divisional and District cadre posts shall be restricted to the candidates who are eligible for selection in these cadres as per the extant rules.
As per an SRO 404, the governor, in exercise of the powers conferred by proviso to section 124 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir and in supersession of all rules and orders pertaining to the procedure for recruitment of Class-IV posts, the governor also ordered that the Government in the General Administration Department may, in exceptional circumstances, exclude any Government Department from the purview of the notification.
The SRO further reads that the procedure for selection for the posts for which selection process has already been initiated by the Empowered Committee(s) shall continue to be governed by the rules/orders in force on the date of issuance of the notification.
“The qualification for recruitment of Class-IV posts shall continue to be governed by notification SRO 99 dated 7th April, 2008,” the SRO added.
