Union MoS Transport meets Governor, discuss ongoing, proposed highway projects

Srinagar: Mansukh L. Mandaviya, Union MoS Road Transport and Highways, Shipping, Chemicals and Fertilizers, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here on Friday. Mandaviya extended warm compliments to Malik on his appointment as Governor of J&K.
Governor and Mandaviya discussed various ongoing as well as the proposed Highways projects in J&K, and initiatives introduced by the Ministry to improve the road transport fleet with latest technological innovations including GPS for the safety and security of the passengers.
Governor and Mandaviya discussed certain issues relating to the adequate and timely supply of fertilizers to the farmers.
Governor highlighted the vital importance of having robust road connectivity in J&K which has difficult terrain over a large portion of its total area. He observed that improvement in road network would provide required impetus to tourism sector with development of various potential tourist spots in the State and provide easy and all-weather accessibility to its remote areas.
