Advisor Kumar Visits Machil, reviews developmental work

Kupwara:  Advisor to the Governor, K Vijay Kumar today visited Machil area of Kupwara and convened a meeting of officers to review the developmental scenario and pace of progress of construction on various ongoing developmental projects.

During his visit, the Advisor was accompanied by Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education, Pawan Kotwal, District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir, ASP Kupwara, Shafqat Ahmad, ADDC M.Y. Mir and other concerned officials.

Advisor Kumar visited Health Centre Duddi where he chaired a meeting of officials of health department of the district. The meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer Kupwara, Dr. Prahlad Singh, Block Medical Officers and other functionaries. CMO informed the Advisor about the health scenario, facilities available in the context of difficult terrain and requested for augmentation of men and machinery for catering to the needs of the area. Advisor urged the officials to work with added zeal towards ensuring better healthcare and timely vaccination of all the villages of Machil.
Later, Advisor convened a meeting of officers of all the major departments of the district during which he took a sector wise review of implementation of all components of developmental projects in the area. He stressed upon the concerned to work with sincerity and dedication for the holistic development of Machil. He directed the concerned to ramp up the pace of work on the ongoing projects so that the targets are achieved well within stipulated timeframe. He directed the officers to visit Machil for redressal of issues and demands at least once in a month and Sheep Husbandry to ensure sustained contact with the people towards creating awareness about schemes for enhancing living standards through rearing of livestock, availability of vaccination and other necessary veterinary facilities for the people concerned. He emphasized the need for improving agricultural and horticultural sectors through expert intervention by the concerned departments towards ensuring better dividends to people of the Machil associated with these sectors. He also directed the Beacon authorities to accelerate the pace of work so that the blacktopping of the road from Kupwara to Machil is completed by the end of November. He further directed the PDD to ensure completion of Receiving Station by the end of November so that it could be dedicated to the people of the Machil. The advisor appreciated the efforts of all the officers in general and the district administration in particular for satisfactory achievements in different sectors. He assured every possible support in ensuring progress and prosperity of Machil. He emphasized upon strengthening the accountability and transparency in administration. He reiterated upon the concerned to work with more diligence so that the area is placed at par with other areas of the district on developmental fronts.

Earlier, DDC briefed the Advisor about the status of various developmental activities being undertaken by different executing agencies in the area. He also presented a detailed account of achievements in various other sectors including health, education, agriculture etc besides highlighting efforts to yield more meaningful results in these sectors. DDC Kupwara also projected various demands and sought support of the government in carrying out developmental works in the frontier area.

Advisor also met various deputations from the area who apprised him of their problems and sought their redressal. People in general demanded improvement in healthcare facilities including round the clock availability of gynaecologist, tunnel from Kalaroos to Machil for better road communication, special recruitment drive for unemployed educated youth of the area, accommodation for officials offering their services in Machil, macdamization of road and better mobile and internet connectivity.
Advisor assured the deputations that appropriate action will be intiated for redressal of their demands as early as possible. He suggested an additional allowance of 15,000 rupees for gynaecologist deputed in the area as demanded by the people and assured facilitating better mobile and internet connectivity by construction of mobile tower in Macil by the end of this year or early next year.

DDC Kupwara later convened a meeting of officers in Machil to ensure implementation of directions given by Advisor towards improving the overall Developmental Profile of Machil.
