Srinagar: Kashmir High Court Bar Association on Wednesday decided that the 14 member team of the lawyers’ body constituted earlier, to represent the Bar Association before the Supreme Court, shall proceed to New Delhi for appearance before the Supreme Court relating to matters regarding scrapping of Articles 35-A and 370 of the Indian Constitution and Section 6 of the State Constitution.
The top court is hearing a bunch of petitions against Article 35A on Friday and Bar Association seeks the dismissal of all the petitions.
The members who will represent the Bar Association before the Supreme Court on August 31 incuding Mian Abdul Qayoom (President); Mushtaq Ahmad Dar (Vice President); G. N. Shaheen (General Secretary); Adil Asimi (Joint Secretary); Z. A. Shah (Senior Advocate); R. A. Jan (Senior Advocate);
Altaf Haqani, Manzoor Ahmad Dar, Nazir Ahmad Ronga , Rafiq Ahmad Joo, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat,
Bashir Sidiq, Mudasir Yousuf and Mian Muzaffar;
“It was also decided (in executive committee meeting) that any other member of the J&K High Court Bar Association, Srinagar and/or any other Bar Association, who is willing to appear before the Supreme Court alongwith the 14-member team, is at liberty to do so, so as to assist the team in the proceedings before the Supreme Court.”
Meanwhile, lawyers’ body strongly condemns the firing of bullets, pellets and tear gas shells by the forces, “indiscriminately”, on the innocent civilians at Khudwani Kulgam, who were protesting against the killing of Altaf Ahmad Kachroo and other Hizb militant Umar Rashid Wani.
The Bar Association while terming the action of the government forces as a worst kind of brutality, appeals the members of the International Community including United Nations Human Rights Council, Amnesty International, Asia Watch and other Human Rights Organizations of the World, to take notice of these “gruesome” events which are taking place in Kashmir every day and come to the rescue of the people of Kashmir in bringing their sufferings and miseries to an end by putting pressure on India to resolve the Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes of the people of Kashmir keeping in view 28 United Nations Security Council Resolutions which are awaiting implementation for the last 28 years.
