Police arrests person with huge quantity of banned forest herbs

Ganderbal: One person was arrested in Ganderbal and a huge amount of forest herbs were seized from his possession on Saturday, police said.

Police said that on Friday they conducted search of the house of Zahoor Ahmad Shah son of Ghulam Mohammad Shah resident of Baba Wayel Gutlibagh area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district and seized the following forest produce herbs from his possession.
1. Podophyllum sps (Ban Kakri) = 181 kg
2. Picrorhiza sps (Koad) = 2.3kg
3. Trillium sps (Tripatri) = 300 gms
4. Allium sps (Shuttkaar) = 9 Kgs
5. Sassauria sps (Kuth)= 19 Kgs
6. Sauromatum sps = 10.7 kgs
7. Weighing machine = 1 No.

SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal confirmed the arrest and said that huge quantity of banned forest herbs recovered from his possession.

He said a case has been registered FIR No 137/2018 US 6th Forest Act in police station Ganderbal and investigation is taken up.
