Ganderbal: Scores of men and women  Saturday protested in Ganderbal demanding immediate release of Headmaster Gh. Nabi Tantray of government High school Shalabugh from police custody.

The protests were held in the Mini Secretariat ground Ganderbal District.

Gh. Nabi Tantray a headmaster of government high school Shalabugh in police custody since last 15 days in an alleged embezzlement case which came to fore in June 2018 and the headmaster was among the people who exposed it, protesters said.

The large number of local residents have came up in support of said Headmaster saying that he an honest person and one who has actually exposed the scam.

“Instead of appreciation his loyalty, he is been put behind bars which is a shame for the department as well as the district administration,” said a protester.

The protesters shouted slogans against the main accused Clerk Mohd. Ismail and the concerned Chief Education officer, accusing him of shielding and defending the culprit.

DDC Ganderbal Dr Piyush Singla said that the case is being thoroughly investigated and the guilty would be punished.

“Who so ever is found innocent will be released with honour,” Singla said.
