Woman judge makes history

Srinagar: Justice Sindhu Sharma on Tuesday became the first woman judge in the 90-year-old history of the High Court.
Acting Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Justice Alok Aradhe, administered oath of office her along with another judge, Justice Rashid Ali Dar.
The Warrants of appointments of newly appointed Judges issued by the President of India, were read out by Registrar General of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir, Sanjay Dhar,
Registrar General also read out the Letter of Authorization issued by the Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, authorizing Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir, to administer the oath of office to the newly appointed Judges.
Congratulating the newly appointed Judges, the Acting Chief Justice wished them a successful tenure ahead.
Judges, dignitaries and Guests besides Advisor to Governor B. B. Vyas, Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Justice M. K. Hanjura, Advocate General D.C. Raina, Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam, Director General of Police SP Vaid, Chairman, Human Rights Commission J&K, Justice (Retd) Bilal Nazki, Former Judges of High Court, Secretary Law, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Judicial officers, Law Officer and staff of the High Court Registry were also present on the occasion.
