26 forest smugglers arrested in Sopore: Police

Srinagar: Police on Thursday claimed they arrested 26 timber smugglers from Rampura village of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A senior police official in Sopore told that forest department lodged a complaint and police immediately acted and arrested 26 forest smugglers.

The police official also said that the crackdown against forest smugglers will continue.

It is pertinent to mention that during last month around 17 forest smugglers were arrested by Sopore police. They were all residents of Rajpora village in Sopore outskirts.

Both Rampura and Rajpora villages are situated in the dense forests.
