elections: Govt forms panel on notification, de-notification

Srinagar: The governor administration on Tuesday ordered constitution of a committee for examination and finalization of notifications and de-notification proposals of the Housing & Urban Development and Rural Development & Panchayati Raj  Departments.

Headed by Administrative Secretary H&UDD, the eight member panel has been tasked to scrutinize any such proposal before the  notification is issued either by Housing & Urban Development Department or Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Department which shall result in examination of proposals for notification of jurisdiction of Municipal committees/councils/corporations based on public need or demand; Modification in jurisdictions of both Urban Local Bodies & Panchayats so that there is no jurisdictional issue arising out of  and ensuring information flow to all concerned departments / officers /stakeholders about modifications; and ensuring that no plans/schemes of any department shall suffer for want of jurisdiction.  Among others, Chief electoral Officer J&K and concerned deputy commissioners are its members.
