NEW DELHI: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday in Parliament during discussion on No confidence Motion attacked  Modi government, took a swipe at Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman saying she lied over the Rafale deal and said that PM Modi cannot “look me in the eye” owing to this as “he knows he cannot be truthful”.

Indian Express reported that Gandhi also added that he has no hatred for prime minister, the BJP and the RSS, and instead thanked them for teaching him the meaning of “Congress, life and being a Hindu.” “You can call me Pappu, give me names, but I will never have hatred for you,” Gandhi said, walking over to PM Modi and taking him into an embrace.

“The Defence Minister said the details of Rafale deal cannot be revealed as India has a secrecy pact with the French govt. The fact of the matter is that the French President has personally told me that there is no secret pact between the two governments. That contract was withdrawn from HAL and given to the gentleman who benefitted approximately Rs 40,000 crores. The Defence Minister has clearly spoken an untruth. The PM must explain whether the Cabinet committee on security benefitted from this dead. Why has a businessman benefitted?” Gandhi said.

According to indianexpress.com Gandhi while looking directly at PM Modi, Gandhi said, “The PM is smiling but there is a touch of nervousness in the gentleman and he is looking away from me. He cannot look into my eyes, I understand that. The prime minister cannot be truthful, I understand.” The House erupts to laughter on this. “The difference between us and PM and Amit Shah is that we are willing to lose power. The PM and president of BJP can’t afford to lose power, because when they do other processes will start against them. The prime minister and BJP president act out of fear. This is the fear that is translating in India.”
