Coke studio’s Kashmiri song is about a mother, son, who can’t be together

Anantnag: Coke studio Pakistan’s explorer season released a Kashmiri song recently creating a storm of reaction from netizens. 

The lead singer in the song Ha Gulo is Altaf Mir, now lives in muzaffar Abad Pakistan, had crossed LOC as a militant but decided to stay put there.

Altaf Mir 55 year old man hails from Janglatmandi Anantnag after crossed the LOC in 1990.

A Sufi singer Altaf Mir lived a contentious life, working as Handicrafts artisan with an expertise in Aari work and chain-stitching in Janglatmandi Area in south kashmir Anantnag District. 

“Altaf would sing at various marriages, and Sufiana ” motter of Altaf, Raja Begam said. 

She says for 15 years she didn’t see her son and when she did she couldn’t recognise him. 

Altaf’s father couldn’t be tolerate that his son crossed LOC, shocked he died of heart ailment years later.

Begum now lives with two of her sons at Hyder colony in Janglatmandi area of south kashmir Anantnag District.

“I visited two times to Pakistan via Wagha border to meet my son I saw their my son was facing lot of hardships, my son got married with a local girl in muzaffarabad her name is Fozia Jan, He is now the father of three sons, his elder son’s name is Mohammad Sammi,” Recalls Raja Begam.

Altaf Mir faced hardships after earthquake in 2000 devastated his house and left Altaf Mir in poverty.

“I want him to come back to his family and livewith us,” Begum said .
