Kupwara: Poice On Monday arrested four drug peddlers and recovered two AK 56 rifles and other contraband stock from their possessions in Karnah area of District Kupwara.

According to police spokesman, a special team of Police Station Karnah and 124 Bn. BSF laid a special Naka at Sadpora Karnah. During checking two Sumo vehicles bearing Regt. Nos. JK 05-A 4359 and JK 09-8135 were seen moving in suspicious conditions.

“Both the vehicles were stopped and upon their search approximately 12 kgs of contraband substance was recovered from the possession of Rafiq Ahmad s/o Gh. Hussain and Zakir Hussain S/O Syed Alam both residents of Nawagabra Karnah.
On carrying search of another vehicle JK09- 8135, two persons were found travelling with AK-56 rifles. Upon their detailed search 2 AK-56 rifles, 2 magazines and AK 56 rounds were recovered from their possession,” he said.

They were identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Malik S/O Muzafar Malik and Shabir Gakhad S/O Ab. Rashid both residents of Hajitarah Karnah.
All the four persons have been arrested under case FIR No. 45/ 2018 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act and 7/25 I.A. Act, and 13 ULA registered in PS Karnah. Further investigations are going on.
