SHRC takes suo-moto cognizance on docs strike, seeks report on patient care

Srinagar: Taking suo-moto cognizance of the strike by doctors, the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Wednesday directed Health Secretary State of J&K to file the report as to what arrangements have been made for the patient care in various hospitals of the state.
“Justice Bilal Nazki, Chairperson of J&K State Human Rights Commission took Suo-moto cognizance of reports published in different newspapers with regard to “strike of doctors”,” a statement issued by SHRC reads.
While going through the news item published in various dailies the Chairperson observed that there are some disturbing reports published. According to reports, hundreds of doctors have gone on strike which has resulted in agony and misery to general public. “There are some reports that even deaths have been taken place due to strike of the doctors. Health Secretary State of J&K, is directed to file the report as to what arrangements, government has made for the patient care in various Hospitals of the State.” The commission ordered that notice shall be sent through a special messenger so that report was filed by the State by Monday.
