Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has directed J&K Public Service Commission to allow 27 aspirants “at their own risk” to sit in oral test on the basis of their performance in the written test on April 28 this year for the post of lecturer in the discipline of Geology.
While issuing a notice to the Commission returnable within four weeks, a bench of Justice M K Hanjura also directed that result shall not be declared till further orders from court.
The aspirants had filed the petition in the high court, seeking its directions to declare them eligible for the post of lecturer (10+2) Geology issued vide notification no. 09-PSC (DR-P) of 2016 dated 19 March 2016 and to allow them to appear for the oral test/viva voce on the basis of their performance in the written test which was held on April 28. They also seek direction to the JKPSC to treat Masters Degree in ‘Applied Geology’ equivalent to Masters Degree in Geology in view of the “clarification” issued by the under secretary to government higher education department vide on No. HE-/Equiv/Applied Geology/2016 dated 19-2-2017.
