Khurshid A. Ganai (IAS, Retd.) as Advisor with effect from the date he assumes charge.

“The terms and conditions of his appointment shall be notified separately,’ a government order issued here reads. Ganie is the third advisor appointed by the governor.  He has already appointed former chief secretary BB Vyas and former DGP CRPF Vijay Kumar as his advisors on the first day of Governor’s rule in the state.

The state came under Governor’s rule on June 20, a day after BJP withdrew support to Mehbooba Mufti-led government.

Khurshid Ahmad Ganai who hails from Mattan in Anantnag District achieved second position in the IAS examination in 1982. He has held various key positions in Jammu and Kashmir during his illustrious tenure. Alumni of Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani Rajasthan, he studied Mechanical Engineering1974-1979.

In 2007, the then Governor of the State Lt Gen (Retd) S K Sinha awarded on Oct 22 conferred on him the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister’s Gold Medal for honesty, integrity and meritorious service and his outstanding contribution to the public welfare and development of the state. He was also appointed as one of the advisor to Governor N N Vohra when state was put under Governor rule after the death of Mufti Mohammad Syed.
