Shopian: Residents of Vedpora village, on the banks of Nallah Lar in Shopian district, are decrying the callous approach of government for not macadamising the road that connects them with the rest of district. They say the road is a trek rather than a pathway.

Vedpora, is small village and the only road of the village that connects them with the main highway Shopian,  is through Mughalpora.

Showkat Ahmad Mir, resident of the village claimed that since 2002 new roads were establish and macdamisation was done on almost all roads but this is the only road in district which is still pending for the want of black topping.

“Hundreds of times we have brought this to the notice of R&B department, all former MLAs too were apprised on this  but except assurances they had nothing for us,” Mir said.

“Our neighbouring villages like kunjoo ,daramdora and Audoo villages got macdamised roads its only only our village of Keegam tehsil which was never macdamised,” Javed Ahmad, another resident said.

Xen R&B Shopian Abdul Aziz told INS that the villages problem has never been brought into his notice before.

“Inshallah I will give my best and this year we will bring this road in plan,” Aziz said.
