Police issues traffic advisory for Amarnath Yatra

SRINAGAR, JUNE 28:  To ensure safe and secure movement of pilgrims for annual Shri Amarnathji Yatra-2018, Police today issued traffic advisory indicating detailed cut-off timing at various places enroute the holy cave on both Baltal and Pahalgam routes. The advisory shall be applicable for the tourists as well.

As per the advisory, the cut-off time for the pilgrims and the tourists crossing Jawahar Tunnel towards the Kashmir valley has been set 3 pm while cut-off time for the last such vehicle to cross Mirbazaar towards Anantnag will be 4 pm. However, the cut-off time for the last vehicle to cross Anantnag town towards Pahalgam is 5 pm.

The cut-off time for the departure of last Yatri from Nunwan towards base camp Chandanwari (by foot) is 10 am, from Chandanwari towards Sheshnag (by foot) 11 am and from Panjtirthi towards holy cave 7 am.

The cut off timing for the vehicles to cross Panthachowk towards Manigam is 5 pm and to cross Shadipora/ Pandach towards Manigam is 6pm. However, the last vehicle to cross Manigam Transit camp towards Baltal is 6:30 pm.

Similarly, during the return journey, the cut-off time for the last vehicle to cross Baltal Base camp towards Manigam is 9 am, Sonamarg Police Station towards Manigam 10 am, Manigam Transit Camp towards Shadipora/Pandach 12 noon, Shadipora/Pandach crossing towards Panthachowk 1 pm and Panthachowk towards Anantnag 3 pm.

The cutoff timing for the last vehicle to cross Nunwan towards Jammu is 10 am, Mirbazaar towards Jawahar Tunnel 4 pm and Vessu, Qazigund towards Jawahar Tunnel 5 pm.

It has been made clear in the Advisory that no vehicle shall be permitted to cross the tunnel after the cut-off time.

The Yatris and the tourists have been asked to strictly adhere to the advisory and cooperate with the traffic police and security agencies.
