Srinagar: Stating that mascular policy will not work in Kashmir, PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said that she was not shocked by the pulling out of the support by BJP as the party’s coalition was not for power and had it been so “we would have joined hands with National Conference and Congress.”
“We tried to keep Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh together. I am happy that our workers despite facing tremendous hardship, we stood by what we meant and in future we will continue with process of dialogue and reconciliation,” Mehbooba said addressing reporters here.
She said that coalition with BJP was done in opposition to the taste of the people only with the basic reason of having reconciliation.
Flanked by party’s senior leaders including Nayeem Akhtar, Mehbooba said that party has not allowed fiddling with Article 370 and Article 35A for four years, “we got 11000 cases withdrawn against youth and we wanted reconciliation. We wanted more and more routes to reopen, we made appointment of interlocutor and we did everything and our aim for which we entered in coalition was achieved.”
“We tried our level best to have ceasefire declared, centre to make talks offer, withdrawal of cases against youth. Prime Minister visited Lahore. We did not let any fiddling with Article 370 and Article 35A,” she said, adding, “We wanted reconciliation and we have said that muscular policy can’t run in Kashmir.” She said that unilateral ceasefire “benefitted in restoring peace.”
“I have tendered resignation to government and informed that party will not make any coalition with any party.”
