Srinagar: Shops and business establishments in Soura and adjoining areas are closed while traffic through the area has been affected as a youth, injured in government forces’ action following clashes in the area yesterday, remains in “critical” condition.
Reports quoting eyewitnesses said that some youth early on Sunday took to streets against the government forces action, leading to shut down in the area. The shopkeepers who had opened their establishments downed shutters while traffic came to standstill between Soura and Buchpora.
They said a youth, Abdul Majeed War (20) son of Ghulam Nabi War resident of Anchar was critically injured in government forces action during clashes at Soura on Saturday. Hit with pellets from “close range”, the youth was admitted to SKIMS Soura, one of the Valley’s on tertiary care hospital. When contacted, medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr Farooq Jan told INS that the youth was on ventilator and “his condition remains critical.” Despite repeated attempts, no concerned police officer could be contacted for comment.  (file picture for illustration)
