Shopian: Despite being a life line road for almost ten villages, the five kilometer road from Laddi to imamsaheb tehsil in Shopian district was never macadamized and still, authorities seem to have no plan to mitigate sufferings of people.

Residents of Dobipora, kadgam chitterwach ,Ladi and kengam allege tha R&B department
Shopian neglected has been neglecting the road ‘on orders or they just don’t want to work or they love to see people suffer while they absolve themselves of doing the job they are getting paid for’.

“We have to walk all along the road to the point where one could hire a cab as no public transport vehicle agrees to ply on this damaged, pot holed road,” residents said.

Another resident who identified himself as Juniad said that school children have to walk all these kilometers as well.

“Imagine the difficulties we are going through, but road and buildings department is busy in waiting for the day to draw their salaries, that too for not doing their jobs,” he rued.

Inhabitants of the said villages claim that they have on various occasions raised the issue with district authorities but no attention ‘was given to the link road which is a shortcut connectivity of several villages around imamsaheb tehsil’..

Executive engineer roads and buildings Shopian, Abdul Aziz Bhat told INS that they will include this road as on when they put a proposal for the same to ‘higher authorities’.
