Police constable fired upon in Shopian, critical; sister also injured

Srinagar: Suspected militants fired upon a police constable Rayees Ahmad Lone at Kathohalan, Shopian on Wednesday. His sister also suffered injuries in left leg and has been hospitalized.

Sources said that Lone, who was recently promoted from SPO to constable, received multiple bullets and is critical. He was shifted to Srinagar for specialized treatment, they said. Lone is presently posted at DPL.

Meanwhile, government forces cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the assailants.
