Srinagar: In a first major attack during the ongoing Ramazan month, militants killed two policemen and critically injured another one in Pulwama district of south Kashmir on Tuesday.
Official sources said militants fired upon a police post, guarding the new court complex at Takiya Wagam in the district.
Two policemen, Ghulam Rasool and Ghulam Hassan, both Selection Grade Constables, died on the spot while another constable, Manzoor Ahmad, suffered critical injuries and has been shifted to SMHS hospital here for specialized treatment, they said.
The militants also decamped with two service rifles from the slain cops, the sources added.
A senior police officer confirmed the killing of the two cops and injuries to another policeman even as he said that a case has been registered and investigations take up.
