Sopore : Students at Govt Degree College Sopore here are facing unhygienic conditions at the college hostel which lacks basic facilities including clean portable water and proper washrooms.
According to students residing at the GDC Sopore Hostel the issue of failing water connectivity and worst washroom conditions were time and again brought into the notice of college authorities bu to no avail.
      
“Almost all the windows, wiring of lights, and other things of hostel rooms are totally damaged but college management seems in no mood to set things right,” they said..
Interestingly, students claim, that the building that houses the students hostel was declared ‘unsafe’ by the Kashmir University.
According to college officials, wishing not to be named, said that the college has sent the proposal for the construction of new hostel has been submitted before the higher authorities but neither did the higher officials reply in affirmative that they have accepted nor are they rejecting.
“The work on the said  proposal has not been started,” he said.
