Srinagar: Army on Sunday claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid by killing a militant in Keran sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district by killing a militant.
Army said that a joint team of army’s 4/4 GR and 103 battalion of BSF posted near Ustad Post adjacent to Manjeet Post in Keran sector along the Line of Control (LoC) noticed some suspicious movement near the fence in the afternoon. “The army fired some shots which were retaliated by the infiltrators. The militants fired indiscriminately and in the gunfight that ensued, an infiltrator was killed so far,” he said.
The official said that the body of the slain has been recovered along with an AK-47 and four magazines from the gunfight spot. “We are ascertaining his identity and outfit affiliation,” the official said.
