Soldier killed, Major injured in Uri

Srinagar: A soldier was killed and an Army Major was injured in an accident at Uri sector along the Line of Control in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday.

Official sources said the Major and Soldier, who were part of the patrolling party, suffered critical injuries after they slipped of the mountainous track and fell down into the deep gorge at Maidan area in the Uri sector.

The injured Major identified as Amit Kumar and Soldier Sepoy Raman Kumar of 62 RR were taken to nearby army hospital where Soldier succumbed to injuries.

Sources said that Army’s 62 RR had launched a combing operation in the area following suspicious movement in the area.
