According to spokesman the case was registered against Mehmood Khan, Sub-Inspector, then SHO Police Station Manjakote, Rajouri vide FIR No. 15/2018 u/s 5(1)(d) read with section 5(2) J&K P.C Act Svt. 2006 at P/S VOJ on Thursday, on the basis of verification conducted into the written complaint lodged by Muneer Hussain S/O Shri Panda Khan R/o Village Dabrote, Tehsil Manjakote, District Rajouri, a statement said.

According to the statement it was alleged by the complainant that Mehmood Khan, Sub-Inspector, then SHO Police Station Manjakote, Rajouri, due to some old personal enmity, framed his son namely Mohammad Tariq in a false and frivolous case FIR No. 77/2014 under section 376 RPC registered at P/S Manjakote by instigating a local girl and using her as a tool against Mohd Tariq.
He also demanded Rs. 3 lacs from complainant as illegal gratification for saving the life of his son. The complainant further alleged in his complaint that he could only manage Rs 2.70 lakh and handed it over to Mehmood Khan, Sub-Inspector then SHO Manjakote. But, even after the receipt of same, the above named SHO presented challan against Mohd Tariq in the competent court. However during trial of the case, the prosecutrix blamed the police for registration of a false FIR and denied rape being committed by Mohammad Tariq, which resulted into the acquittal of Tariq in the case.
During verification conducted by the vigilance organization, it is found that Mehmood Khan, then SHO P/S Manjakote by sheer abuse of his official position, implicated Tariq son of complainant in false and frivolous case and later-on by corrupt and illegal means obtained illegal gratification of Rs. 2,70,000 for himself from the complainant. Accordingly on the prima facie establishment of allegations, case has been registered at P/S VOJ and investigation is under progress.
