Residents say that post-2014 floods, the stretch of the road suffered patches and since then they have been demanding macadamization. However, authorities did not undertake repairs, they added.

The delegation said due to uneven surface and potholes, several vehicles have been damaged. The dust generated by passing vehicles is also creating problems for the children and elderly.

“It’s more troublesome for sick and people having respiratory problems,” they said.

“During rains, the whole stretch turns into mud and we face problems to even venture out of our homes,” the delegation added.

The residents have appealed to minister for roads and buildings to look into the matter and direct the concerned authorities to undertake repairs of the road at the earliest.

They have appealed the MLA Batamaloo Noor Mohammad Sheikh and Deputy Commissioner Aabid Hussain to look into the issue and pass the necessary instructions for the macadamization of the remaining patch.

The delegation also registered protest against non-fulfilment of “promises” made to them by local MLA to macadamize the nearly one-kilometre road stretch from Ziyarat Sharief to the Unani hospital
