Srinagar: India will take seriously any statement from Pakistan calling for peace between the two countries, reports quoting Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Monday.
She said this when asked about the Pakistan Army’s statement in April that a peaceful resolution to disputes could be found through “comprehensive and meaningful dialogue”.
“Any comment on wanting peace will definitely be taken seriously,” Sitharaman said.
She also said that the Indian Army would “fully honour” the government’s decision not to launch any operations in Jammu and Kashmir during the month of Ramzan.
“We shall fully honour the policy which the Home Ministry on behalf of the government of India announced,” Sitharaman said when asked about the alleged ceasefire violations by Pakistan recently. “The policy has clearly laid out how it is going to pan out and we shall abide by everything that was announced.”
